Electric Ninja 250 electric motorcycle

ElMoto.net

An active online electric motorcycle forum where topics deal with all aspect of electric motorcycles from the technical details for DIY builders and converters to electric motorcycle racing and the latest production electric motorcycles.

EVAlbum.com

A large database of electic vehicles, both commercially produced and custom built. The format of EV Album provides technical information about each build, including the parts used and performance data. There are lots of calculations one can do to determine how big of a motor, controller and batteries to use to achieve a desired result, but in my opinion nothing beats real-world data to confirm or draw question to those projections. EV Album is a great source of real world data. Phillip's Ninja 250 started out with the same motor and controller as mine, and lead acid batteries - his data was a huge help in my planning. He's also a regular (DRZ400) at ElMoto.net and we've been able to compare performance as he's switched to lithium.

. . .From Fossils To Flux

Ted Dillard is a regular at ElMoto.net who has distilled a lot of the information found in duscissions on that site, interviews he has conducted with manufacturers and other sources into a single, organized book. From Fossils to Flux is available in Kindle Version, too . You can follow his blog here.

Electric Motion

Lenon Rogers has provided an abundance of information about his electric motorcycle built on a new Lifan chassis for under $3K all with parts sourced online. This feat would probably not be repeatable, because lead prices have increased the cost of the lead-acid batteries, but there is a lot to learn on this web site and some excellent spreadsheets for calculation.

Endless-Sphere

This forum is not as motorcycle centric, but there's a lot of motor and battery discussion here, especially related to the lighter weight, higher discharge Lithium Polymer batteries used occasionally in motorcycles and more commonly in electric bicycles.

Racing

Electric Motorcycle Manufacturers

GSX-E.com

Noah Podolefsky has put together a web side detailing his sharp looking electric Gixxer street fighter. He used power systems from Elite Power Solutions, which has some nice bundles of matched chargers, BMS systems and batteries.

Juiced Drag Racing.com

Ed Fargo has built multiple electric motorcycles, both for drag racing and cruising around town.

Ninja250.net

This is the mother-load of online info about the Kawasaki Ninja 250. In addition to a thriving online community, there is a large collection of FAQs about these bikes that often include more practical guidance than the Haynes manual. Plus it's cool because I designed one of the site's official t-shirts.

Ninjette.org

Another active and helpful Ninja 250 forum with a bit different vibe.

Gas Free Earth

Terry Hirshner built and re-built several iterations of a lead-acid electric Ninja 250 (even with dual ME0709 motors) while I was still rebuilding my chassis and suspension. He's since reclocated to Central Florida and focuses much of his energy on converting cars to run on vegetable oil. He also hooked me up with some straight Ninja handlebars he had lying in a junk bin.

WARPIG - World And Regional Paintball Information Guide

OK, this has nothing to do with electric motorcycles, but my wife and I have been providing content for this site since 1993. It's the first and oldest web site about paintball, and chock full of historic and technical information.
